Summary: Entry-level position, assisting in the daily administration of the Internship Abroad Department and the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX).
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Activities and Responsibilities for CBYX:
• Coordinates in conjunction with other team members the recruiting of new colleges for German participants (on-going, starting in the Fall)
• Researches potential new host colleges in areas that are underserved by the program or where strong company ties but no host colleges exist. Makes initial contact with International Student Office or other appropriate department to talk about hosting a German student.
• Data entry of German participant files (host family changes, employers, etc.)
• Active involvement in Fall marketing campaign (mailings, phone campaign, representing CBYX and other CDS programs at local university study abroad and career fairs.
• Data entry for American applications
• Assists with preparation and participates in the orientation and evaluation sessions of German and American participants.
• Assists team members with solving participant problems (homesickness, communication problems with host family, college coordinator, employer etc.)
• Organizes travel for 75 German participants from New York to placement communities across the United States
• Other tasks as requested
Activities and Responsibilities for Internships Abroad
• Assist in the administration of a variety of internship programs in Germany, Spain and Argentina, including filing applications, depositing / requesting checks, maintaining participant and host company database, health insurance enrollment, preparing hard copy applications for mailing, marketing mass mailings, program evaluation mailings and program certificates, conducting telephone interviews with applicants
• Communication with applicants, potential host companies and CDS partners
• Communication with current/ potential participants
• Represent CDS at local career fairs/ college events/ conferences
• Assist in the organization of study tours
• Answer program inquiries via phone/email/mail
• Research potential host companies via internet, directories and other sources
• Solicit companies in Germany for internships
• Other tasks as assigned

Ihre Qualifikationen:
Qualifications: • Great organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task and work well with others.• Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and Word.
• Good phone manner, listening and problem-solving skills.
• Previous experience as an exchange student and/ or international intern.
• Ability to learn quickly.
• Excellent English oral and written communication skills
• German language proficiency, Spanish also preferred
• Good sense of humor.
